About
Jim Cox, MD, 1950-2025, volunteered as Project Access Tarrant County’s Medical Director from 2010 to 2020. Dr. Cox served as the Tarrant County Medical Society President from 2010 – 2011. His greatest accomplishment during his term was the formation of Project Access Tarrant County for which he received the Physician Humanitarian Award. He served as PATC’s volunteer Medical Director until his retirement in 2020. He will be remembered for his leadership, vision, commitment to excellence, and compassion.
During his tenure, PATC coordinated over $16 million in donated specialty and surgical medical care to those otherwise unable to access it. Dr. Cox believed that medical care – including surgical care – was to be afforded every individual. He fiercely advocated for PATC patients to anyone who would listen, especially among leaders and funders in positions to assist with the program.
